SPRING/SUMMER 2010 KEY LOOK
- For the fashion-forward workplace, a pair of Steel Loose Tapered denim – 7/8ths length, boyfriend fit with G-Star Elwood detailing – complemented by a single-button Correct Line Smoking Jacket.
- A pair of Dean Loose Tapered denim – featuring distinctively long rear pockets, extra low crotch and intricate leather detailing – teamed up with a tuxedo-style Smoking Blazer from the Midnight range.

HANDCRAFTED: FOR TRUE DENIM LOVERS
The Handcrafted range showcases G-Star’s passion for the raw denim fabric. Japanese selvage denim is hand-stitched by skilled craftspeople to form a range of tailored jackets in luxury raw denim, skirts in several lengths and cuts with work-wear influenced suspenders, shorts, pants and shirts. All pieces are lined in the waist with hickory denim. Internal stitching and seams are taped for maximum comfort. These limited-run pieces are available in store from January 2010.

RAW ORGANIC: DENIM WITH A CONSCIENCE
For Spring/Summer 2010, the RAW Organic range expands to include a full selection of shirts, shorts, pants and jackets in raw denim and summery powder-blue and white chambray. Rugged work-wear details add a hardcore street-edge to the various pieces, while Low Loose (both long and short) and three-dimensional leg cuts ensure the pant silhouettes are bang up to date. The Organic range allows you to remain fashion conscious, yet supportive of the ongoing search for environmentally friendly solutions. Debuts in stores from January 2010.

DENIM DRESS UP
G-Star is convinced that with the right silhouette, washing and finishing, denim is as luxurious a choice for an exclusive social event as anywhere else. This belief has driven the creation of Correct Line and Midnight, two denim-complementary ranges of wool, cashmere, silk and leather pieces that combine timeless craftsmanship and precise tailoring to allow denim to be dressed for any occasion.

NIGHT-TIME
The Midnight range extends the G-Star wardrobe through the evening and into the early morning with a selection of elegant evening wear, based around the traditional black tuxedo jacket. Sensuality is hinted at in the sateen A-line Hepburn Beads Dress and sequined Cas Singlet, while sophisticated accessories allow the wearer to dress for even the most formal occasions. In store from November 2009.

BREEZY DAYS OF SUMMER
The traditional summer dress gets re-imagined by G-Star. Five unique styles present a variety of cuts and lengths, while collar and sleeve variations ensure a style to suit everyone. Light-weight and soft-touch Dolphin-Blue Chambray and Stanton Twill give an airy summer feeling, while handcrafted raw denim details, such as heart brooches and bows, link back to G-Star’s passion for denim. In store from February 2010.

But that nostalgia easily morphed into modernity with the introduction of the extremely low loose NY Raw Structor pant, the latest addition to the ongoing line of 3-D jeans silhouettes that started in 1996 with the G-Star Elwood.

Inspired by the Mediterranean high society, the collection featured sophisticated tailoring for jackets and tops, thus creating entirely new silhouettes.

Washes encompassed the complete life-cycle of denim, from the darkest raw through bright blues and bleached to non-dyed ecru.

The combination of denim with breezily light materials in blues, whites and custom prints showed the unmatched adaptability of G-Star’s core fabric and gave the collection a cool, high-summer feel.

Aside from highlighting the talents of Indonesia’s local designers, JFW 09/10 is also proud to present a very special collaboration between Indonesia and India. This cultural collaboration merges two equally magnificent events, Festival of India and Jakarta Fashion Week 09/10.

Two of Indonesia’s most acclaimed designers, Sebastian Gunawan and Priyo Oktaviano will join two of India’s most distinguished designers Tarun Tahiliani and Malini Ramani in showcasing their interpretation of each other’s cultural wealth at the Gala Dinner Charity Night hosted by Dewi Magazine.

JFW 09/10 is also excited to introduce new and upcoming young designers through the reputable Fashion Design Competition (LPM) 2009.

Founded in 1979 by Femina and Gadis magazines, this competition has jumpstarted the careers of many talents such as Anne Rufaidah, Carmanita, Chossy Latu, Edward Hutabarat, Itang Yunasz, Musa Widyatmodjo, Samuel Wattimena, Tuty Cholid, Widhi Budimulia, Sally Koeswanto, and Denny Wirawan.
